Tom Wilson Over 0.5 PowerPlay Point +375 (.5Unit)
The Capitals travel to California for a date with the San Jose Sharks, and I think power forward Tom Wilson projects to have some value from a powerplay point perspective. Firstly, Wilson has been recently promoted to the Capitals #1 PP Unit, which logs more than 78% of the total powerplay time. An increase in opportunity correlates to an increase in production, and often these markets don’t properly account for these types of changes. For example; Ovechkin is +130 for a PP Point, and Kuznetsov is +200 for a PP point. Hard to imagine the net-front presence on the same powerplay is that much less likely to record a point. Additionally, the Sharks’ penalty killing and general discipline problems should provide ample opportunity for Wilson to take advantage and find his way on the scoresheet while on the man advantage.
Mika Zibanejad Over 0.5 Goals x Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 Goals +600 (.25Unit)
Both Zibanejad and Tkachuck are going to play big minutes and log powerplay time for the respective teams against the opposition who struggle defensively. Buffalo and Ottawa are in the bottom third in the NHL in expected goals allowed and penalty kill percentage, which makes them teams worth targeting. Moreover, both Tkachuck and Zibanejab are underperforming their expected goals-created numbers so far this season in large part because of lower-than-expected shooting percentages. When you put those factors together I feel as if the pair are a little undervalued, and I figured a sprinkle on a lottery ticket parlay is worth the look.
